Residential & commercial septic system design and instalation

we are fully certified by the ministry of municipal affairs for septic system design and installation. as well as certified and trained by several manufacturers for design and installation of advanced treatment septic systems. our designers take pride on establishing a excellent relations ship with the thunder bay health unit, health Canada and the ministry of environment, as well as many engineering firms. we take care of every thing from locates, to permitting, and filing completion notices

Here is what a recent customer had to say about us:

"After numerous reputable septic companies failed to return calls, answer their phone, failed to arrive when it was promised that they would install our septic system, Jeff Buob made our septic system happen. Not only did he return calls and emails, follow through on his word and complete the project, he, Dave and Terry did so with utter professionalism and expertise. Our situation was a challenging one and Jeff worked laboriously to develop a solution and install the best system for us. If you would like to deal with a company that cares and believes that when a promise is made they should follow through, then Buob Septic is the company for you. They also did beautiful landscaping and before they left they cleaned our yard meticulously. We would highly recommend their services." - taken from google reviews

Conventional systems
these are the industry standard system, they are low maintenance  but require a fair amount of space
* see below for more information

Advanced treatment systems
there are many types of advanced treatment systems out there and they all have there place.
these systems have a much smaller foot print then a conventional septic system and can be installed closer to the water table and limiting layers such as clay or bedrock resulting in a lower profile and more astatically pleasing look.
The down side to these systems is some have filtering media which may need to be replaced every 10 years or so. and there is a requirement under the building code for a annual sampling and maintenance agreement with the manufacturer which costs around $250 per year

Septic system repairs/ consulting services
We also preform repairs on septic systems such as

replacing missing or deteriorated baffles, installation of effluent filters, adding new poly access risers  and lids to grade to replace the heavy existing old style concrete lids.
repair or replace damaged piping, or fittings.
Some times it is possible for us to rehabilitate a older failing system this is done on a case by case basis, involves digging up the entire system so it is fairly intrusive, but costs around 1/3 - 1/2 of what replacement would. some rehabilitated systems  have gone 10-15 years and still show no signs of failing

conventional

Typically a conventional septic system consisted of sand, 4'' perforated pipe, and crushed stone although these systems  were time proven the crushed stone is susceptible to becoming plugged with biomat after 20- 30years. now a days these new installation of these systems is pretty much obsolete. the new conventional system uses a high strength poly dome with a open bottom (''Chamber'') which is buried within the sand. these systems must have minimum 3 feet of sand or gravel between them and water table or clay/ bedrock.

conventional systems can be installed either as gravity fed from the septic tank, or pumped into from a lift station in gravity flow cannot be acheived

ECO-FLO

The eco-flo system has been around for a long time, and is extremely popular in the area. these systems use peat based filtering media to treat the effluent from the septic tank before filtering it threw crushed stone, and sand before reintroducing it to the ground waters.

these systems are extremely popular due to there design flexibility with both in ground and above grade styles, and small foot print.

the down side like all advanced treatment systems there is annual maintenance fee to the manufacturer who inspects the system every year. and the filtering media required periodic replacement which the manufacturer pays for if the maintenance is up to date.

Eljen GSF

the Eljen GSF system is newer system to our region but has been around since the early 1970's has has become extremely popular in area since it has become available.  Benefits include a smaller foot print,  a lower finished grade, and the ability to install it closer to ground water tables, and bed rock.

Eljen GSF uses a 2 step process to treat the effluent, and is completely passive, meaning there is no filtering media which needs to be replaced.

The primary treatment zone consists of perforated pvc distribution pipe placed over the corrugated treatment module which promotes bacteria growth.

The secondary treatment zone is a layer of specified sand which is very clean and uniform in size, further treating the effluent before rejoining the ground water either threw natural soils or imported fill depending on existing soil conditions

prior to backfill the perforated pipe, and modules are covered with a anti-siltation fabric to prevent soil intrusion, and maintain effluent storage within the media
